I was reading an article in The Wall Street Journal on Friday written by another golf addict and learned that a golf course designer from Massachusetts, Geoffrey Cornish, once determined that the landmass of all the courses in the US is roughly equivalent to the size of Delaware and Rhode Island combined.
Wow! No wonder I have such a hard time picking the right courses for us to play when we head out on vacation. I'm so overwhelmed by the choices and marketing hype from tee time booking systems that I don't even look at those anymore. What I do now is ask other golfers on the Internet. I find golf forums and blogs are great for this kind of first hand, honest, information. I just wish more players would come online and join our community of Internet Golf Junkies (but that's another posting...).
Anyway, the article went on to recommend some websites I'd never heard of and so I took at look at them and here's what I found. Take a look...
For anyone who likes to mix golf with travel (like who doesn't!), these new sites and software look like great tools for your travel bag. I'm going to try them out for my golf holiday coming up at the end of April. I'll let you know how it goes...
BTW...the only thing that bugged me about GolfFlyerOver.com was that they announced they have all the 2008 PGA courses in their database, but I saw nothing about the LPGA.
